Idil Biret Archive CDs were originally distributed in Turkey (by the Naxos distributor there) and also in Germany on the internet by JPC. In the Beethoven series three sonata CDs and the complete Symphony transcriptions (in a 6 CD box set) were released starting in 2001.

Then the offer came from Klaus Heymann, who had read about the IBA project and Idil's new Beethoven recordings in her book (A Turkish Pianist on the World Stages / published by Staccato Verlag in Germany and Buchet/Chastel in France), for Naxos to distribute her recordings under the IBA label. As Idil had recorded for Naxos 44 CDs since 1990, it was only natural for her to accept this excellent proposal. So, a new and exciting collaboration with Naxos is now starting. The Idil Biret Archive recordings will be distributed by Naxos worldwide physically on CD and digitally on all major sites including Naxos Music Library, Classics Online, iTunes, eMusic and Amazon. All releases will be treated as regular Naxos releases with Naxos catalogue numbers. So, IBA will be an independent but Naxos affiliated label.
